Johnson County Real Estate Stats: Existing Home Sales Volume Drops Over 44 Million Dollars in August 2007

Although there is typically a drop in sales volume in real estate sales going from the summer to the fall, the drop hits early this year. The typical drop in sales happens in early September and the drop is usally a small drop in sales.

This year, sales volume of existing real estate sales in Johnson County, Kansas drops from $213,443,597 in July '07 to $169,204,155 in August '07. Last sales dropped a little; however, sales volume for existing real estate sales were nearly 200 million in August '06.

The number of homes has slowed from the summer rush, also. The past 3 months the number of existing homes sold never dropped below 850 homes. June topped in at 934 existing homes sold. The number of homes sold in August '07 dropped to 713 existing homes sold.

I was thinking about selling my home but it doesn't sound like a good time right now. What do you think?

This is a great time to sell if you plan on buying. You will net less on the houseu you are selling but you'll save more on the house you'll be buying (assuming you are upgrading). Let's say you discount your home $150,000 a total of 5% which is $7500. Now lets say you buy your $200,000 home at a 5% discount. The savings on the buying side would be $10,000. Take the $10,000 you saved minus the $7,500 you lost and you are $2,500 ahead. I would be happy to discuss in more detail. Please feel free to call me at (913) 980-5809.
