How to Avoid 10 Common Buyer Traps BEFORE Buying a Kansas City Home

Buying a Kansas City home is a major investment no matter which way you look at it. But for many Kansas City homebuyers, it's an even more expensive process than it needs to be because many fall prey to at least a few of many common and costly mistakes which trap them into either paying too much for the home they want, or losing their dream home to another buyer or, worse, buying the wrong home for their needs.

Every homeowner has been a first-time buyer once in their life, so you're not alone. But buying a home is one of the largest purchases you'll make, so how do you know if you're ready to take that next big step? These 10 home-buying tips can help reduce the stress of buying your first home.

The ninth chapter is:

9.      Knowledge is power. Learn about the broker's role in your home buying process. Brokers and real estate agents are key players in home buying transactions and it pays to do a little research to make sure you're getting the best representation available. Did you know that 94% of the homes that sell in Kansas City, including Olathe, Gardner, Overland Park, Lenexa, Leawood and Shawnee involve a real estate agent. Some agents work for the seller and are required to disclose all information about the buyer to the seller. Wouldn't it make sence to have the real estate agent work for the buyer? In most cases, there is no charge to the buyer to have the real agent work for them. The buyer's agent has a duty to disclose all material defects about potential homes and information about the seller to the buyer.

If you would like to discuss the option of having a professional buyer's agent work for you, contact the Dowell Taggart Team. Chris can be reached at (913) 980-5809.
