City Schedules Meetings for Residents Impacted by Flooding
Released 12/01/08
To address potential flooding issues, the City of Olathe partners with Johnson County to fund major projects with County Stormwater Management Advisory Council (SMAC) funding covering 75% of costs. To be eligible for SMAC funding, a preliminary engineering study is required to provide a more detailed analysis of the flooding and identify solutions once funding is available. There are currently nine studies underway and seventeen planned for the future.
Two public meetings are scheduled with property owners whose property falls within study areas for two Indian Creek projects.
The first area is located along Winterbrooke and Lindenwood from Sheridan to Arrowhead Park. The meeting for this area will be December 4th, 2008 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Black Bob Elementary (146th Terrace and Brougham). There are 23 impacted homes in this area.
The second project includes two branches of the creek located at Mur-Len and Locust and 147th Terrace and Brougham and includes nine impacted homes. The meeting will be December 11th, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Black Bob Elementary.
