Although the first half of the year, the real estate market was quite sluggish, the market has picked up. Could it be the $8000 tax credit? I think so.
From January to April of this year, the real estate recordings in the Missouri Counties of Jackson, Clay and Platte counties were each below the monthly totals of 2008. Since April of this year, the real estate recordings have been above last years monthly totals. The peak for ths year so far is May with 900 recordings. June and July have both been great months with real estate recordings in the 800's.
Will the last half of the year be a good year? I think with the tax credit ending within 3 months, there should be a big push for first time home buyers capturing the $8,000 tax credit. The end of 2009 should be a great time for the real estate market in Kansas City.
