I opened my Gmail this morning and noticed that I had received 9034 email messages. Has this ever happened to you? At first I was kind of excited because I thought maybe my new marketing I started this week really connected with consumers. My excitement quickly changed when I noticed that it was my marketing that generated the numerous emails but it was for the wrong reasons.
You maybe asking yourself, "How can marketing generate bad results?" Marketing can generate bad results when a spammer from Nigeria decides to send you nearly 8,500 messages on how he would like to give you a million dollars just for helping him transfer $90,000,000. I guess either this spammer was really excited about giving me a million dollars or his spamming software decided to break down and cheat the spammer and send all 8500 messages to one email address.
If there is a bright side to this message, I will need a good travel agent. I plan on taking a huge vacation really soon with my million dollars. In all seriousness, I need to thank Gmail. Without Gmail, I would need to delete all of these messages. Since I use Gmail all of the million dollar Nigerian messages ended up in my spam folder. All I needed to do is open up my spam folder and hit the Delete Messages Link on the top. It took nearly 10 minutes to delete, but without Gmail, it would have taken nearly a half of a day.
Gmail has many other useful tools like synchronizing your email over multiple computers and with your data enabled smart phones or blackberries. If you don't use gmail, I suggest you check it out today. It has saved me from loosing a half of a days work on a weekend. To checkout Gmail, go to: http://mail.google.com.
