This past weekend was packed with lots of national and local activity. With so much do and watch what do you remember the most? Did you attend the Old Settler's Day events or the Patriots Run in Olathe?
The area college football teams played. Kansas University had a great weekend while Kansas State and Mizzou had less then desirable weekends. Both OSU teams may have fallen off the national spotlight. OU proved that they can whip on inferior teams.
While I'm on football, did your favorite professional football team win? The Kansas City Chiefs lost a squeaker even though the score didn't look like it. With 2 minutes to go, the score was tied. Some how the KC Chiefs found another way to loose.
It seemed most of Kansas City was visiting downtown Kansas City to watch the Tour of Missouri. What a great event and the excitement at the end was incredible. I was on Grand Street watching the peloton racing toward the finish line. It was exciting. This was the best Tour of Missouri so far in my opinion.
When it comes to other sports, did you see the Williams tennis incident? It was all over the internet until what happened last night at the VMA on MTV.
I guess this is the tie in for what happened last night. My kids begged me to watch Moran TeleVision (MTV). Last night after teen idol and super awesome, Taylor Swift, won the Female Video of the Year, super moran Kayne West walked on stage while Taylor was giving her acceptance speech and grabbed the microphone. His moronic drunken behavior caused quite a stir on Twitter. Over 1 million Tweets were generated. My 3 year old daughter didn't even know what happened. My teenage and tweenage sons were very disappointed and understand why they are not allowed to watch MTV.
If you use the Twittersphere on what grabbed the attention of the nation, the maron Kayne West stole the action but what do people in Kansas City remember? If it is the West immature behavior will Kansas Citan's turn on their TV's watch Jay Leno tonight?
Will Chiefs fans find something else to do on Sunday afternoons, or will they turn out for a few more games?
In order to keep the Tour of Missouri in Missouri, the Governor needs to be convinced that the 1.5 million dollars spent to raise 30 million dollars for the state was a good thing. If the governor isn't convinced to keep the tour, this maybe the last year for the tour. No HUGE sponsors stepped up because the event was canceled this past summer. I heard a few more high caliber cyclist would have come if the Tour of Missouri wasn't canceled earlier this summer. To contact Governor Nixon, go to: http://governor.mo.gov/contact/
Its too early to judge the college teams. With the football season being early, it sure is going to be a good year to watch.
With so much activity, what do you remember?
