For the past 2 years my family and I haven't been to the Plaza Lights. We hadn't gone the past years not because we didn't want to but more because someone in the family had been sick. This year nobody in the family was sick.
When my wife and I were deciding whether we should head down to the lights or not, my wife and I thought of many reasons why we shouldn't go to the Plaza Lighting Ceremony. Reasons included it is cold, we've seen the lights turn on 20+ times and the crowd will probably be large. These are probably some of the reasons why most people didn't go to the lights.
We'll after realizing that my daughter had never been to the lights, my wife and I decided to head to watch them turn on.
I knew we made the right decision when I watched my 3 year old daughters face as the lights turned on. If you don't think the lights are a BIG DEAL and are boring or old, take a 3 year old to the lighting ceremony. It is well worth it. To see the lights through your eyes is one thing. Seeing the lights through the eyes of a 3 year old is a different experience. The joy and excitement is unbelievable. Again, if you think the Plaza Lighting Ceremony is boring, take a 3 year old with you next year.
