What a difficult day. A few months back I was referred by a Facebook friend to help a Kansas City homeowner who lost their job. I had helped the homeowner work out a loan modification with the lender last fall. Since the homeowner had not found suitable employment to pay bills, they fell behind on their new negotiated mortgage payments. Instead of listing their home with a “Short Sale Specialist” like the Dowell Taggart Team, they decided to list their home with a friend who had never done a short sale.
Today, nearly 10 months later, the homeowner called and said that his lender is foreclosing and that he realized that he made a mistake when he listed with an inexperienced real estate agent. After looking at his file and finding out that his right of redemption is nearly over, there is not much that even I a professional can do to help. Now these homeowner are going to loose their home and all of their equity.
