Kansas City Businesses will see MANY Changes in Marketing in 2010

As many Kansas City businesses are beginning to understand the new direction of marketing, 2009 saw a lot of interesting and exciting changes and additions to the world of marketing. Internet marketing actually outpaced all other marketing. Huge corporations started removing poor performing high cost marketing media for emerging media. You will see more do this in 2010. Some important events that took place in 2009 were the launch of BING, announcement of Google Caffeine, the merger of Yahoo and Microsoft search. These important announcements have helped some businesses become dominant leaders in their business fields while other businesses were left with "What Happened". What happened to their business plans that have worked for 10+ years? In 2010, the web is emerging into more real time. More businesses are looking for tips to increase business, makes sense?

Following is the list of pointers to get Kansas City business websites to become more productive in 2010.

1. Decrease Webpage Load Time. Google's Matt Cutts recently hinted that the load time of a website may affect its ranking in the search engines. That is, the faster a website loads, the better its chances to rank well for its niche keywords. Load time is touted as the next big step towards improved rankings for the web. The pre-requisites to a good webpage load time are; reputable web host and fast internet connection. You will see many web designers removing slow clunky pictures from their websites. 2. Get Listed in Google Local Search. and Google Maps. Getting listed in Google Local Search and Google Maps ensures brand visibility in front of visitors from the nearby places. It has been proven that the number of visitors to a website increase exponentially when listed in local search results. The reason being, a customer will always prefer to purchase a quality product which is easily available in his or her vicinity rather than order it from another unfamiliar city or state. New games like Foursquare have helped get some businesses listed on Google Maps. Look for more applications and games coming in the near future. 3. Get Involved in Social Media. Social Media is not only the trendy thing it is the thing. In 2010 organizations are going to actively engage in conversation and social networking and reach out to their potential customers. There are nearly as many social media sites as there are websites. Use the social media site that will help create brand awareness and help build relationships. Sites like Facebook, Twitter and Ning will grow, but a host of many new sites will enter. In 2009 it was the thing to just get listed and have an account on social media. In 2010, people will be actively engaging and communicating on social media. In 2010, more people will share their specialties and interest on social media.


4. Optimize Your Website Mobile Users. With and ever increasing number of people tweeting and using Facebook from their mobile devices, a lot of organizations are now finally paying attention to how their websites appear on mobile phones. You can have your website appear on the mobile under the same URL or have a special domain for the same. The most common way is to have the domain name as mobile.websitename.com or m.websitename.com.


5. Apply Web Analytics to its full potential. There are hundreds of web analytics tools in the market which provide a mountain of data pertaining to the visitor's usage. The best well known web analytics tools is Google Analytics. Web Analytics tools can answer the "how" but not the "why". That is, you can find out how many visitors checked the product catalogue webpage, but not the answer to, why the visitors didn't place an order for the product. Organizations need to dissect the data from web analytics tools and successfully apply its learning's to enhance their visitors experience and in turn increase sales revenues. 6. Keywords will grow in titles. In the past when writing, a writer would use many adjectives to describe and event, place or product. That's good once you get the attention of the reader. To insure you get the reader, writers will need to use more descriptive seo words. Instead of writing "Chiefs hire coach" a good writer will write "Kansas City Chiefs hire old Notre Dame Coach Charlie Weis as Offensive Coordinator". In the later headline, weather it is in a blog post, on an article, website or twitter post, as more potentional of being read by more consumer. Why you ask? Because it as more keywords and has the probability of being indexed on more keywords on the search engines. A good site to research keywords is Google Keyword Tool.

 
7. And for Lucky 7, Videoing and Blogging will grow in 2010. Why didn't I include videoing and blogging in with social media? Because both videoing and blogging will take on a culture of their own. Look for sites like YouTube to grow but also look for new sites to startup with new tools and services. With blogging, you will see more companies migrate from traditional websites to blogging sites like wordpress and blogger. DId you know that a good video or blog post with good keywords could run past your competitions websites rapidly on the search engines. Look for for more informational videos and blog post in 2010.

 

In 2010 Kansas City companies must go beyond having a 3rd party creating content for them to creating their own content on blogs, social media, and video sites with well research keywords.
