Kansas University first hired Charlie Weis from Florida. Charlie negotiated a good salary for the assistant coaches. The first coach Charlie hires was Tim Grunnard from Bishop Miege in Roeland Park, Kansas. Tim was the head football coach of the Miege Stags and a former Kansas City Chiefs football player. My Gardner Trailblazer's have played the Stags a couple times over the last couple years and I think Tim did a wonderful job representing the Stags. I always liked his demeanor on the sidelines.
Now that Tim is headed to Kansas University, he may have had some pull to get Tre Parmalee. Tre Parmalee, a 5-foot-10, 160-pound receiver out of Bishop Miege High School, orally committed to the Kansas football team on Wednesday night.
Parmalee is the first commitment for new KU coach Charlie Weis. Parmalee picked KU after de-committing from Northern Illinois. Tim Grunnard is the first hired and Tre Parmalee is the first commitment for KU. I like the idea of getting some of the football talent from the area. This should be good to watch Tim and Tre on the KU sidelines, even though I'm a Kansas State Wildcat.

The unveiling of the first building on Kansas State University’s Olathe Innovation Campus on Tuesday drew state and local legislators, students, alumni and K-State and Kansas fans alike. Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, a 1979 K-State graduate and former student body president, was on hand, along with U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder, who is a KU alumnus and former student body president. Although the two traded jabs at the other’s alma mater, they were in agreement that it was a momentous occasion for K-State, Olathe, Johnson County and the state. “The competition and the collaboration is beautiful. And that’s what we need as a state. We compete, we collaborate,” Brownback said. “There are KU campuses here in Johnson County and K-State campuses here. … We grow, we grow together, we grow competitively, and we can do this as a state.”
