  • Kansas University Football first Attracted Bishop Miege High School Coach, Now Player Tre Parmalee

Kansas University first hired Charlie Weis from Florida.
Charlie negotiated a good salary for the assistant coaches. The first coach Charlie hires was Tim Grunnard from Bishop Miege in Roeland Park, Kansas. Tim was the head football coach of the Miege Stags and a former Kansas City Chiefs football player. My Gardner Trailblazer's have played the Stags a couple times over the last couple years and I think Tim did a wonderful job representing the Stags. I always liked his demeanor on the sidelines.

Now that Tim is headed to Kansas University, he may have had some pull to get Tre Parmalee.
Tre Parmalee, a 5-foot-10, 160-pound receiver out of Bishop Miege High School, orally committed to the Kansas football team on Wednesday night.

Parmalee is the first commitment for new KU coach Charlie Weis. Parmalee picked KU after de-committing from Northern Illinois.
Tim Grunnard is the first hired and Tre Parmalee is the first commitment for KU.
I like the idea of getting some of the football talent from the area. This should be good to watch Tim and Tre on the KU sidelines, even though I'm a Kansas State Wildcat.

  • Kansas University Will Announce Charlie Weis as Their New Coach

Kansas University Will Announce Charlie Weis as Their New Coach

OK, nobody can deny that Charlie Weis has been successful in his coaching career. He has coached high school, college and at the professional level.

Many people in Kansas City may only know his recent coaching jobs at Notre Dame, his alma matter, at the University of Florida and with the Kansas City Chiefs. Charlie has also coached for the New York Giants and the New England Patriots.

Later today, the University of Kansas, will announce Charlie Weis as their new head football coach.

In order to build a top notch college football program, Charlie will need to find a winning formula. With the lack of 4 star high school recruits in Kansas, Charlie will need to find recruits from other states and from the junior college ranks. That means Charlie will need to out recruit Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Missouri, Texas and instate rival Kansas States.

Do you think Charlie Weis will find a winning formula for Kansas?

  • Was it CBS Sports or KCTV 5 that snubbed the #2 Ranked Kansas Jayhawks? Will you boycott CBS?

Was it CBS Sports or KCTV 5 that snubbed the #2 ranked Kansas Jayhawks? Will you boycott CBS?

Sure enough, if you’re a Kansas Jayhawk or Missouri Tiger fan you may know what I’m talking about. You might have even heard the screams in your house like I did. My boys and I were watching the Kansas State Wldcats upstairs and we heard my wife scream in disgust downstairs.

Yesterday, CBS switched the final 3 minutes of the exciting game between the rival Big 12 ranked teams, Kansas Jayhawks and Missouri Tigers, for the Little 10 teams, Michigan and Michicagn State game.

Immediately, the social media channels were filled with hatred toward CBS decision. Other local Kansas City tv stations were reporting that the local CBS KCTV 5 station were filled with complaints.

CBS KCTV 5 apologized and reported that they had no control. They said the national CBS station made the choice to switch games. Tweeters were laughing out loud in Missouri, because their CBS affiliates apparently ignored or did not get the memo to switch games. Jayhawkers in western Kansas were filling the pains of their Kansas City Jayhawk friends and were giving them the play by play.

What happened? Remember the Kansas City CBS affiliate KCTV 5 reported that the national CBS Sports made the decision to switch games. Other CBS affiliates in Kansas and Missouri didn’t make the switch. The Kansas City KCTV 5 apologized and played the entire second half of the game at 10:30 Saturday night. Nope, I didn’t watch it either.

I did watch the exciting Kansas Jayhawk ending on ESPN. While the #2 Jayhawks won by 4, I would guess the local CBS affliiate, KCTV 5, lost thousands of fans.

Some local bloggers and social media experts are calling for a local CBS boycott. Will you participate?

  • Kansas and Kansas State will get #1 seeds in the NCAA tournament

Have you ever heard "Be careful for what you wish for"?

That is so true for me. I have been wanting the Kansas State Wildcats to meet the Kansas Jayhawks in the Big 12 final. Now here it is. My dream is coming true.

It's big. Look at how many top 20 teams have vanished in the NCAA mens basketball? And my two favorite teams are tops in the Big 12. The Jayhawks are a lock for a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament, win or lose. My Wildcats could sneak in and grab another #1 seed.

This is a dream year for college basketball fans from Kansas. Isn't it?

How big is the game tonight? ESPN grabbed the coverage and will feature the game tonight moving another tourney game.

If you are watching twitter, you'll notice thousands of tweets about the matchup.

Andy Katz, and ESPN sports writer, wrote on his twitter that " You can debate all you want but Kansas-KState in KC will have the best atmosphere of any conference tourney title game in 2010."

A ticket scalper was quoted before the Wildcats victory with "Big 12 has half of its dream final. If Kansas State beats Baylor tickets will go for $300 to $400 Sat. night."

Now my split household will watch the game. Yes you heard me right. I married a Jayhawk. We have fun, even to the point of dividing the decor in our sports room.

My next dream is to see KU and KSU as #1 seeds in the NCAA tournament and meet in the final game.

  • Exciting sports this week in Kansas City . . . Will the Wildcats win on Wednesday?

The week in sports ended on a wild note. Kansas followed with a loss soon after Kentucky lost. Kansas State started sluggish but survived 40 minutes of high pressure from Missouri. started with a loss to Oklahoma State Cowboys.

In the Olympics, this maybe the best Winter Olympics for the US. The 4 man bob sled team ended a 50 year drought in the bob sled with a gold medal run.

Looking ahead, the American hockey team will play the Canadian hockey team for the gold medal. It's sad to see the Olympics end, it has been fun to watch, hasn't it?

Wednesday will be a big game for Kansas State. Will Kansas State be able to avenge an earlier loss to the Kansas Jayhawks? Although it will be played on the Kansas Jayhawks court, were they have had the best home court advantage, the Kansas State Wildcats should put up a great fight. I'm sure most sports fans in Kansas will be watching the game. Win or lose, the Wildcats should finish the Big 12 season in no less than tied for second.

Who will you be rooting for on Wednesday?
