According to a 2007 survey, only 47.9% of the native sons and daughters stay in Kansas after the age of 25. Many of the adults leave Kansas for higher education and then relocate to a job or they leave Kansas in young adulthood to find employment in a trade in another state. Kansas ranked 42nd out of the 50 states in keeping their native sons and daughters. Looking at more recent data, the State of Kansas might be sliding a little more down the chart. Help Protect the Kansas Mortgage Interest Deduction
The Kansas Legislature is currently considering a proposal to eliminate the ability of Kansans to claim the mortgage interest deduction and other tax deductions important to the housing market on their state income tax returns.
If passed, this proposal would eliminate the Kansas mortgage interest deduction (and many other tax deductions that are important to homeownership) and would cause severe harm to the Kansas housing market and the Kansas economy.
With just two clicks of your mouse and less than ten seconds of your time, you can help oppose this damaging proposal and protect the Kansas mortgage interest deduction. Click here to contact your legislatures. Kansas University first hired Charlie Weis from Florida. Charlie negotiated a good salary for the assistant coaches. The first coach Charlie hires was Tim Grunnard from Bishop Miege in Roeland Park, Kansas. Tim was the head football coach of the Miege Stags and a former Kansas City Chiefs football player. My Gardner Trailblazer's have played the Stags a couple times over the last couple years and I think Tim did a wonderful job representing the Stags. I always liked his demeanor on the sidelines.
Now that Tim is headed to Kansas University, he may have had some pull to get Tre Parmalee. Tre Parmalee, a 5-foot-10, 160-pound receiver out of Bishop Miege High School, orally committed to the Kansas football team on Wednesday night.
Parmalee is the first commitment for new KU coach Charlie Weis. Parmalee picked KU after de-committing from Northern Illinois. Tim Grunnard is the first hired and Tre Parmalee is the first commitment for KU. I like the idea of getting some of the football talent from the area. This should be good to watch Tim and Tre on the KU sidelines, even though I'm a Kansas State Wildcat.

Kansas University Will Announce Charlie Weis as Their New Coach OK, nobody can deny that Charlie Weis has been successful in his coaching career. He has coached high school, college and at the professional level.
Many people in Kansas City may only know his recent coaching jobs at Notre Dame, his alma matter, at the University of Florida and with the Kansas City Chiefs. Charlie has also coached for the New York Giants and the New England Patriots. Later today, the University of Kansas, will announce Charlie Weis as their new head football coach. In order to build a top notch college football program, Charlie will need to find a winning formula. With the lack of 4 star high school recruits in Kansas, Charlie will need to find recruits from other states and from the junior college ranks. That means Charlie will need to out recruit Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Missouri, Texas and instate rival Kansas States. Do you think Charlie Weis will find a winning formula for Kansas? President Obama Visits Osawatomie, Kansas to Deliver Economic Speach
President Obama will give an economic speech in Osawatomie, KS., this afternoon at a location the White House says it was very specific in picking and was meant to stir echoes of President Teddy Roosevelt.
Roosevelt spoke in the very same town more than 100 years ago on Aug. 31, 1910, where he presented his vision for America and the coming 1912 election.
Sound familiar?
That's by design.
The White House says it spent a month planning and choosing this location and that there are parallels between how working class families felt then and now.
President Obama is supposed to land at KCI late this morning and take a motorcade through Missouri and Northern Johnson County. Obama will speak in the Osawatomie High School Gym at 1:00 p.m. Osawatomie, Kansas is 30 minutes south of Olathe, Kansas and over an hour from KCI airport.
If you were not one of the brave souls who stood in line to get tickets to the event, don't worry. Most of the major tv channels will broadcast the economic speach.

Kansas Foreclosure Laws - How to Stop a Kansas Foreclosure - What is a Short Sale?
Kansas is a judicial foreclosure mortgage state with no non-judicial foreclosures available. All foreclosures in Kansas are processed through the courts. The foreclosure sale for Kansas properties held at the courthouse steps around 130 days into the proceedings. A Kansas homeowner has typically 90 days from the sale date to redeem the sale at the sheriffs office.
The best way to prevent a Kansas from foreclosure is to short sale it prior to the sale date.
A short sale is when the mortgage lender allows a property to be sold for less than the amount owed on a mortgage and takes a loss. A short sale is important because in Kansas a deficiency judgment is allowed. When the bank accepts a short sale, they are agreeing to release the foreclosure and possible future judgements. If a mortgage lender forecloses on a property, they can attach a deficiency judgment. The Kansas City Real Estate Network can assist Kansas homeowners with a short sale.
If you have questions about a foreclosure, we recommend consulting an attorney.
How to stop a real estate foreclosure in Kansas ---> Stop Foreclosure Now!
Some common questions:
Q) When does the sheriff come to the door and evict the Kansas homeowner?
A) The sheriff will be sent to the home after foreclosure date and the redemption period are completed. This period is typically 90 days to 1 year after the sale date.
Q) Can a Kansas homeowner sell a home after foreclosure?
A) A Kansas homeowner can sell the property during the redemption period. Any amount over the redemptive quote can be kept by the homeowner.
Q) I have heard horror stories about delays in processing short sales in Kansas. Are they true?
A) Some of the horror stories are true. We have done so many short sales that we made a science of completing them. Most delays due to not completing the required paperwork in a timely matter. One lender told us that it takes the typical homeowner 60 days to complete and send in the proper paperwork. That is to long when the typical buyer wants to close within 45 days.

The Kansas City Real Estate Network likes the new RE/MAX logo. The new logo was first introduced recently at the International Broker Owners Convention in Los Angeles, California. At the broker convention, Dave Liniger, founder of RE/MAX International, stated that RE/MAX is number one in the real estate sales arena in virtually every way and this new logo is symbolic of that achievement. Liniger stated that RE/MAX is number one in market share, agent productivity, brand name awareness, national advertising, internet lead generation, professional education and in the minds of buyers and sellers.
The Kansas City Real Estate Network of RE/MAX Premier Realty is excited about the new RE/MAX logo and will begin using it immediately in their advertising and personal promotion.

What is a Kansas Homestead Exemption? Can Kansas homeowners use it to keep their properties from being foreclosed on? A homestead exemption is a very powerful tool for homeowners to protect themselves. Homestead Exemptions vary widely from state to state.
1) House can’t be force sold. 2) Protects owner if one of the owners pass away. 3) Protects the owners and the home from property tax increases and collections. In some states, a home claimed under a homestead can never be force sold. The State of Kansas provides an unlimited dollar amount homestead exemption. Although the State of Kansas provides an unlimited dollar amount on its homestead exemption, it does limit the exemption to a certain area of land, which is much larger in rural areas.
The federal bankruptcy homestead exemption is $17,425. Where a state’s homestead exemption is lower than $17,425, a debtor contemplating a bankruptcy filing should consider using the federal exemptions, all other things being equal. Generally, consensual liens, such as mortgages, cannot be eliminated inside or outside of bankruptcy in Kansas, even when they are attached to property subject to an exemption. Therefore, the Kansas homestead exemption can actually be worth nothing to the debtor if the home is very heavily mortgaged. In order to keep the property in Kansas, a Kansas homeowner will need to have a property that is not heavily mortgaged. RE/MAX sells more homes than any other real estate company. The unveiling of the first building on Kansas State University’s Olathe Innovation Campus on Tuesday drew state and local legislators, students, alumni and K-State and Kansas fans alike. Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback, a 1979 K-State graduate and former student body president, was on hand, along with U.S. Rep. Kevin Yoder, who is a KU alumnus and former student body president. Although the two traded jabs at the other’s alma mater, they were in agreement that it was a momentous occasion for K-State, Olathe, Johnson County and the state. “The competition and the collaboration is beautiful. And that’s what we need as a state. We compete, we collaborate,” Brownback said. “There are KU campuses here in Johnson County and K-State campuses here. … We grow, we grow together, we grow competitively, and we can do this as a state.”

Motorists in Kansas may soon be able to drive faster than ever on some Kansas highways, and they won’t get hit with heafty fines if they’re not wearing seat belts, either. The Kansas Legislature on Friday agreed to raise the speed limit to 75 miles per hour on more than 1,000 miles of separated, multilane highways. The same measure also requires cities to charge no more than $10 for seat-belt violations — one of the lowest such fines in the nation. Some cities charge up to $100 for seat-belt violations. Lenexa charges $60, including court costs; Shawnee, Olathe and Leawood have $30 fines. The bill goes to Gov. Sam Brownback after passing the Senate 23-14 and the House 107-13. The top speed limit in Kansas has been 70 mph since 1996.
