When my friends told me that we were going to go to this bar i immediately googled it. From the pictures and website it seemed to me it was a higher class bar and found that the cover for that evening was supposed to be $10 for men and women get in free before 11. When we arrived at the bar we had to wait in line, even though we had reservations, although i do admit it was not for very long. It was strange that there was a line outside because the bar inside was almost empty. The men we were with each had to pay $15 to get in, even though the website said otherwise. The bar has two floors, both of which played ok music. The drinks were a bit overpriced, on average 6$ a drink but this was to be expected. From the pictures i was expecting it to be a very nice place, and i was shocked to see that the waitresses were walking around in what looked like bathing suit tops and kilts. The lower level does not have any bathrooms so you have to climb stairs everytime you need to go. Also, there was a smoking section, and everytime you opened the door smoke would just blow into your face. I am pretty sure this section breaks the Smoke Free ontario Act and i plan on reporting them. We arrived at the bar around 10, and when I went to the bathrooms they already smelled like vomit, although the bathroom attendant was very nice. As for the crowd in the bar, it was far from high class. Women were wearing ridiculously short dresses and guys were grinding all over them on the dancefloors. The upper level had a balcony type set up to it and i found everytime i looked up i could practically see up the women's skirts and there were men staring down at me. It was very uncomfortable. There is nowhere to sit down in the bar, you can only get seating if you reserve bottle service, which is minimum $70-$100 a bottle. By midnight there were still plenty of seats and when we had asked if we could just sit down we were told we were still not allowed unless we got the bottle service, so the seats were just empty all night. Finally, which topped it off for me, was that i was told repeatedly that coat check was $5 an item, which i guess is common in toronto, so it would have cost me $10 to check both my coat and sweater on two separate hangers. What infuriated me was that they insisted that this was their policy, 1 item per hanger even though i saw the coat check girl (who was dressed in a casual sweater and had more attitude than any employee should ever have) put scarves and coats on the same hanger making that TWO items. Overall, the crowd in this bar was not very good. We left by 12:30 and a fight was breaking out at the door as we were leaving. My friends, which did decide to stay, said they stayed another hour after we left. During that hour the music was terrible and they spent an extra $50 in drinks just to leave because they were so exhausted and couldn't sit down. Overall there were about 20 people who I was acquainted with that evening and all said they did not like the bar and would not go back. I would definitely not recommend this bar to anyone! If this is the type of atmosphere you enjoy however, you can find the same thing in clubs which im sure are much less expensive and have much friendlier employees.

FYI- this company is being investigated and has ripped off countless boat owners. Whatever you do, do not send them a deposit. Their MO is to request a deposit to schedule a transport; not show up and promise to refund the deposit. They will not refund the deposit- that's apparently how they make their money- keeping deposits for boats they've never transported.

I have to rave about Yen and her staff! I was the bridesmaid for a wedding that was planned in under 3 months -- and I had SHORT SHORT HAIR (cut like a man's) ... my bestfriend wanted me to have long hair like hers -- but there's no way that I could grow my hair out to shoulder length in under 3 months. I was freaking out when I went to see Yen to talk to her about my dilemma. I didn't expect a miracle -- but I just needed to vent my desperate situation -- did I have to wear a wig?! Would it look natural? And would it stay on?
Well... Yen did work a miracle -- she calmed my nerves and pulled out her magic wand and said: "I have the solution for you!" -- Hair extensions! Natural hair and any length I wanted and styled in any shape -- She saved us! And I didn't have to go through that awful awkward period -- I went in with short hair and came out with long! She did it in one sitting and the extensions felt so natural -- I felt comfortable all day (I still have them on!) and all my friends were shocked and surprised! -- that was the best.
If you have a problem -- big or small -- call Yen up -- she may have a solution that she can make happen with her magical wand!
THANK YOU YEN & STAFF! YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST! (especially for putting up with my irrational fears and freakout!)

My first visit to Brooklyn Warehouse was just so-so. When we arrived, the host directed us to a table in the far corner that was so dark we could barely see each other (even though it was broad daylight outside), and it was crammed between two other tables. We asked to be moved to a different table, and fortunately got one by a window (why he didn't direct us there in the first place I don't know). My guest had the eggs benny, which were apparently good, but I didn't enjoy my meal as much. I opted for the eggs dante: two eggs poached in tomato sauce, with hash browns, BBQ pork and shaved parmesan on top. It sounded like an odd combination, but for some reason I thought I should try something that was unique to the restaurant. The pork and parmesan were very flavourful, but were provided more as a garnish, and the rest was quite bland. I wasn't impressed with the coffee either. Given all the rave reviews I've heard and read about this place, I was pretty disappointed, but I'm willing to go back and try the Brooklyn Burger sometime, which is supposed to be their specialty.

I recently went to visit my daughter in Minneapolis, MN and had locked my keys in my car. I was in a strange town so I didn't know who to call. The super at her apartment referred me to 612 Local Locksmith. Within a matter of minutes they arrived and had my car door opened. They came just in time because I had even locked my granddaughters car seat in the car, my daughter couldn't even get to work! The gentleman that assisted me was very helpful and there was not any damage to my Lincoln.

I was in a hurry to get into my apartment and ended up breaking my key off in the lock. I called 212 Local Locksmith and they came out within 25 minutes. They had to remove the broken key and made me another set of keys for my lock. Thank goodness because I thought I would have to replace the whole doorknob! Luckily they fixed me up at a very fair price.

The only times I use Yellow Cab (instead of Casino Taxi, for example) is when I need a ride home from Sobey's. Sobey's has a dedicated phoneline to Yellow Cab, which is convenient for people like me who don't own a car and sometimes need to buy a lot of stuff. I haven't had any experiences that were as bad as the other reviewers. Overall, the dispatchers are friendly and the drivers are helpful (with loading things in and out of the car), but they don't always arrive as quickly as I would expect, although admittedly my frozen foods have never thawed out in the process. I might use them more often, but the Casino jingle has ingrained their phone number into my brain... maybe Yellow should aim for something snazzy!

It use to be "the spot" for coffee in Halifax, we sued to go almost every other day after work for a coffee near the sea. Visited two days back, their cakes are yummy but service is slow and it is more expensive than starbucks if you want a slice of cake and plain coffee. It's trying to become starbucks which it can't based on the ambience it has.
The best thing for this spot is its location specailly in summer time. I am not sure what they are trying to become starbucks, tim hortons or pizzahut. Hope they do well, but I am not sure if I will be a regular customer now. If the owners are listening please do something.

I visited The Alley Bar on 4/16/10 with a friend. Upon arriving at the bar, we each both purchased one drink. I used my debit card to purchase a Cranberry Vodka. My friend also purchased a drink using her debit card. Neither of us were offered receipts nor entered pin numbers when our cards were returned to us, and the bartender continued onto serving other customers. Later on, I purchased another Cranberry Vodka from a different bartender. Again, I was not offered a receipt nor did I enter a pin number when my debit card was returned to me.
Upon reviewing my bank statement, I noticed that I have two charges on my account, one charge is for $27.50 and the other is for $4.75. I called and spoke with the general manager on 4/19/10 regarding the $27.50 charge. He stated that he would review his receipts and get back to me. After not hearing from him, I called the bar again on 4/20/10 and spoke with a different manager. She took my name and number and said that she would have the general manager call me. After still not hearing back from the general manager, I called AGAIN on 4/21/10 and spoke with him regarding the excessive charge on my account. His response was that his receipts show a number of drinks purchased all within a 15 minute time period, and that I could bring in a signed receipt or tell him the name of the bartender if I wanted to dispute the $27.50. I told him that neither my friend nor I were even offered receipts that night. He then stated that he didn't know how many people I was there with that night. I informed him that I was there with only one other friend, and we each bought just one drink each when we first arrived at the bar. Then, he offered me a $25 gift card, but I stated to him that I have no intentions of going back to The Alley Bar after being wrongly charged.

This nightclub was/is owned by Formula One (un) driver Jaque Villeneuve. Located on Rue Cresent in downtown Montreal, Newtown meaning ville neuve in French has great food and bar snacks and a nice restaurant upstairs, but I can only give opinion on the club apart from a burger I tried once. The club: It's pretty good, but has a few douche bag types from little Italy or something. However they tend to get a fair few artists in such as Pete Tong, and some random dude playing a violin who looked like Edward Scissor Hands only to some pumping house music so that part is excusable. It has a dress code, you just dress smart'ish.

The Seahorse is one of the best places in Halifax to catch a local music act. You can find all genres of music playing here from Rock, Alternative, Metal to even DJs. It's located below the Economy Shoe Shop on one of the busiest streets in Halifax. For a small venue they have this place designed very well for large crowds. The sound system is fantastic and the drinks are reasonably priced as well. Besides local bands they often bring in acts that are 'on the rise' from across the country.

Stopped in here over the weekend for a few beers and some appetizers. A few of us split some nachos and some wings. Who would of thought an Irish pub would have some great food? I was pleasantly surprised and will be going back again for sure. We went on a Friday Night and it was jammed packed. There was a live band playing as well. They were actually really good but they didn't play any Irish music. Not a bad thing I suppose?

I've been a customer for 3 years. No one expects much from a place in Chinatown, but this place is seriously great. Staff are friendly, services are plentiful, and environment is spacious.
They do sell beauty products here, which I have done before. I remember when I first came here, they offered what was best for me. Of course, I wouldn't buy something from a place that I've been to for the first time. And unlike other places, they didn't push me to buy their things.
They have wonderful acupuncture and foot service. The best in the world. I used to have regular foot cramps and pain. I also have had muscle pain in my arms whenever I lift things up. I walked in hoping to solve this problem. My pain was killing me. I walked out like a new person.
Best of all, prices are affordable.

I hadn't been to Fort Anne since I was a child, and it was a lot smaller than I remembered! The grounds are immaculate though, and the Fort is handsomely situated (the views in and around Annapolis Royal and over to Granville Ferry are beautiful, so take some time to walk the perimeter of the Fort). There's an old gunpowder magazine from the early 1700s, as well as officers' quarters, and now there's a small museum and library on site. You can also stroll through the Garrison Graveyard, which is the oldest graveyard in Canada. There are some very interesting old tombstones and carvings in the yard, which tell a unique story of the French, British and Acadian history in the area. Whether or not you like to explore military fortifications, this is an important spot, especially since Annapolis was once the capital of Nova Scotia.

We bought a desk from Art Van over the weekend. The salesperson did a great job. Because the desk is pretty large, we elected to pay the $80 for delivery and set-up. In total, we spent almost $950 for the desk, so it was not cheap. The desk was delivered yesterday. Unfortunately, the delivery guys installed the hutch to the desk improperly and failed to put the knobs on the desk drawers. The hutch is supposed to be centered on the desk (it is the only was it fits), yet somehow the delivery guys managed to attach the hutch so it hangs off of one side of the desk. We're now forced to work with Art Van's service department to fix the problem, which means that we will need to have someone home (again) during the day to fix something that never should have been messed up to start with. I'm scratching my head wondering why we paid $80 for the delivery/set-up. We just called Art Van's service department, and no one can come out to fix the problem for 6 days! So now we need to wait 6 days to use the desk that was made unusable by Art Van's delivery team! Totally ridiculous! We've ordered a lot of furniture from other companies before and have never seen such poor delivery/set-up service!! Absolutely horrible! The lesson that we learned is to never go to Art Van again! We should have shopped at a quality furniture store. We will not make the same mistake again!

I had simply the worst customer service experience ever with these guys and I would urge anyone considering using them to avoid them like the plague. I could fill a novel with all of my issues stemming from one repair, but the general idea is: They said they would call and never would They said they would fix my problem and they never could They said they would send it to someone that could fix it and never did They gave me the unit back after months, with all of my settings and some of my software missing, with clips and tabs broken They never admitted to doing anything wrong or showed a hint or remorse Seriously, all of this happened and more. This was not a super complicated problem either, just a simple piece of hardware on a computer that needed to be replaced.

Twisted Root is a place where you can get decently priced, non chain restaurant burgers that are absolutely incredible. The sauces, the meat, the buns... everything is just amazing. Twisted Root has a bunch of specialty burgers and my personal favs are the veggie burger and the chipotle, guacamole and cheddar burger.
I haven't had the stomach or courage to try it but they have fried basket of pickles! Yup fried pickles... curly fries, sweet potato, onions and green beans. I'm probably forgetting something but you get the picture. I wouldn't expect world class service here but it doesn't matter because they more than make up for it with their burgers.

The Porch is restaurant which really exudes a Southern style. I've been here twice for lunch and dinner and both times left satisfied. At lunch, I had their spinach artichoke dip which my friend ended up eating the majority of since she liked it so much. The next time I went, I had their grilled cheese and tomato soup which sounds boring but is their specialty and rightly so because I couldn't get enough of it, every bite was so good.

I absolutely ADORE Kenny's. No questions asked, you need to try their ahi tuna nachos once, these nachos are so delicious. I'm not the biggest drinker but their martinis are absolutely to die for, in particular their pomegranate martinis. They have a bar which you can sit at if you're just in the mood for drinks and snacks.
The food at Kenny's is incredible. I generally go for their Sterling Silver Burger with potato cakes but their adult mac and cheese and rib eye steak are both great choices. The only thing that you really need to watch out for is how busy this place gets on the weekend. We're talking like a 40 minute to an hour wait!

""Hey folks, I used these guys for a move from the south shore to Laval, and it was great. They were courteous & professional. Nothing broke or was dented. All in all, I'm really happy with the service I got from Sylvain (the owner). Pricing was pretty competitive (I shopped about 10 companies before deciding on this one) - overall I give them an A+. PS: I tipped the moving guys about 40$ each and they seemed really happy with the tip.""

This place is high class, owned and operated by a Japanese family. Fantastic service by Japanese ladies, and excellent sushi. The wassabi was soft and aromatic and spicy, just like in Tokyo. The ginger had a hint of sweetness that did magic. And the sushi - my oh my. It's been a few years since I had so much variety in one meal. My favourite this time was the scallop nigiri - just amazing. It was my first time trying beef nigiri and I liked it. A bit pricy (ended up $40/person, no alcoholic drinks) but definitely worth it.

Like the previous reviewer, the Innlet is one of my favourite destinations. Although the restaurant can be busy, and the staff pulled in many directions, usually the food and service are first-rate. Their scallops are expertly prepared, and their renowned fettuccine makes for a great side-dish. Try to get a table in the dining room on the right, as the area on the left can be a bit dark and cramped, especially if there's a lineup of guests hovering in the entranceway.

I've used Richard from Ace Locksmith for many different projects over the years. We have used him at home (adding new locks on external doors) and at various commercial buildings too.
The main reason we always use Richard is he continues to be reliable. If he says he's going to show to change a lock - he is there. His workmanship is always excellent and he's never let me down.

I'm not usually a discount/second-hand shopper, but occasionally I visit these types of stores with my daughter. She introduced me to Value Village recently, and I was amazed at the huge selection of books. You could literally spend hours in there just going through the rows upon rows of books. The more you buy, the cheaper the overall price, and it's wonderful to find so many titles in such excellent condition. While my family ventures off to browse through clothing or housewares, I can now keep myself occupied by searching for good reading material.

WARNING: CHILDTIME LEARNING CENTER, PRE-SCHOOL, REVIEW : UNETHICAL, UNCARING ADMINISTRATORS AND STAFF, AND EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL DIRECTOR DEANNE ROMERO ......
Feel free to contact me for documents, proofs and more information.
Latest news (Friday, April 1, 2010): contact me for more latest news.
My child has been hospitalized on Friday. My child and I were at the emergency room for hours. He has had a very high temperature since last Wednesday (105) and had no sleep on Wed and Thursday. Neither did I, of course. He was diagnosed to have a very bad ear infection and extreme fever.
The school might accept him from his uncaring father (on his days) this coming week (starting on Monday) even before the doctor's first follow up. Protect your children. Internet is the only way I can reach to parents. The school is hiding the facts and is accepting my child as being very very sick. All they care is money, not my child or your children.
****Please do not leave your child at this school on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday because most likely my husband (unless the school tells him not to) is going to drag my child to school again like he did last Mon., Tues, and Wed, (his days) in spite of my telling him that he was very sick and he shouldn't take him to school.
My child has sore throat, serious ear infection (as stated by the doctor), high fever that needs to be controlled by medicine, cough, etc.
I will show the hospitalization papers to the school but they won't care as they never did in the past. Meanwhile, your child will get the infection. My child suffered so much because of this school's ignorance and uncaring attitude.
Again, feel free to contact me for proofs of my child's illness and any other documents. The school will not show them to you. All they will tell you is bad things about me and good things about them. Contact me please for proof including a signed proof by them that my child's temperature was 104 when he was at school. They didn't contact me or my husband. I found my child half-unconscious on the sofa when I went there to pick him up. The teacher and other children were playing loudly near my child while my child was slowly dying there. He would have been dead most likely if I had arrived there a little late. I had warned them about my child's recent fever seizure too. But they didn't care about anythin, but money. More below.
======
Dear Parents and Whomever It May Concern:
I have had terrible experiences with Childtime Learning Center, preschool, in La Mesa, CA. I believe that it is my duty as a good person and good parent to warn other people about this school. This school is doing unethical things behind their locked front door. Please do not send your little ones to this school. All this school cares about is money. Nothing else is important to this school's authorities (eg: Director: Deanne Romero and her supervisor Lisa Collins). When I clearly explained Deanne and Lisa that what they were doing was flat out unethical and I sent a thick folder full of legal papers both by fax and by certified US mail that clearly indicated that their procedures were unethical, they did not care. Deanne is the rudest and least professional administrator that I have ever seen in my life and I am not very young. She hung up the phone on me when I was explaining things kindly to her. She laughed so loud and so sarcastically and hung up the phone on me. One day, police were involved. Even the police officer said, "Yes, what they are doing here is very unethical." Who is/are behind these people? Who is letting them get away with doing completely unethical acts/procedures, ignoring everybody and everything in the expense of the children for one reason only: Money. As long as you give money to these people, the rest does not matter. When they see you as a customer, they see dollar signs on your forehead so they will treat you kind, friendly, and professional and etc. Please do not be fooled by their fake behaviour and caring words. Please contact me if you want to know the whole story, my experiences in detail. Please do not make the mistake of sending precious child to this school. This school is following unethical procedures. They did this to my child just to get some bucks. It is still going on. They (the two directors above) said sarcastically that they will continue to do the unethical thing. Meanwhile I felt obligated to write this review to warn prospective and current customers about this school. There are so many ethical schools. Please send your child there. This school is very expensive too!!! I don't think any other school would be as money hungry as this school.
===
After I wrote this review, I went to this school to pick up my child who was illegally and unethically enrolled in this school by his uncaring father. My child was lying down on the sofa in the playroom while other children were playing noisily. My child was burning from fever (104!!) and lying there half-unconscious. I requested a lady there (I think she was an administrator there) to take the temperature. She did it from my child's ear. The teacher, the directors, other responsible people hadn't care a bit about it whole day. My child begged me for water with the little strength he had. He said that he asked the school for water, but they didn't give water to him by saying, "No water" If I had been a second or minute late, my child might have been dead now. I had warned the school about my child's recent concussion that was caused by his uncaring and ignorant father. The school didn't care. He was dragged to school by his father on Monday as being very sick. I told his father not to take him to school but he did. The school didn't care about my child or other children as long as the money was coming to them. My child has been at this school as being very sick on Tuesday and Wednesday and the school didn't contact neither me nor my husband. I got my child literally half dead and ran to the house when he collapsed on my shoulder and gave him Motrin. I am writing this review in tears. I wrote a summary. There is a lot more things to say about this school such as my child lost 1 pound in two days at this school. They are keeping their food portions as secret for example. I don't see their menu on their web either. So many more things to say. Please don't enroll your precious child at this school.

I don't eat out for lunch very often, so when I do, I hope and expect that it will be worth my time and money. Today's Subway adventure was rather disappointing. Although the fella who made my sub was friendly, there wasn't much choice in terms of toppings. Maybe my memory is failing, but I recall having options like shredded carrot to choose from, not just the usual onion/pepper/olive/lettuce/tomato routine. And, the lettuce was already turning brown at mid-day, so how fresh could it be?! I was also surprised that my combo came to just under 10 bucks. I definitely didn't feel like I got my money's worth, but I was over-hungry and needed something quick and convenient. In the future, I'll go back to Pita Pit, where they have many more fresh veggie options and combos to satisfy my appetite and wallet.

The infamously large croissants of Two-If-By-Sea are one thing (size does matter) but the variety and the flavours are another. I recently tried their apple, bacon and blue cheese croissant - i died and went to heaven.
They've recently moved up from the Dartmouth Farmers market to the trendy 'Founders Corner' building on Octerloney Street - but they've lost none of the special attention that goes into their croissants.
My only criticism is the coffee isn't always the best...but I can ignore this minor misdemeanor for their mighty croissants.
