Ive been struggling with alcoholism since the age of fifteen, for it was the only way I new how to cope with my problems. Years into this terrible addiction, I found myself at the brink of losing everything important to me in my life. My wife was filing for a divorce, my family stopped talking to me, My kids lost all respect for me, I was facing job termination, and I soon found myself waking up in a psychiatric hospital depressed, defeated, and torn. My sister, heartbroken and tired of watching her younger brothers life spiral out of control, approached me about a residential program she had learned about called Hawaii Island Recovery. I felt hesitant at first about this idea but knew this may be the last chance for me to make things right. Once I arrived at HIR, I was immediately greeted with open arms by staff who to this day, I call my ohana. Ive met mentors here who have walked my walk and understood what it took to live a clean and sober life. For the first time in my life, I felt there was hope for me. Each day was filled with Educational group meetings, recreation therapy, individual counseling, and trips to the gym. I cant forget to mention, the excellent food and the resort like atmosphere of HIR, making it so much easier to recover. Today I am happy to say that I live a sober and healthy life. I made an amends with my wife and our relationship is filled with love and happiness. Im slowly gaining trust back from family and friends that I have hurt in the past. I was able to keep my job and Im much more productive in my work. Thanks to the experiences at HIR, Ive truly learned to live a happy and sober life. Mahalo to all at Hawaii Island Recovery!

Letting more Kansas retailers sell liquor could generate an estimated 15,367 new jobs, $343.6 million in wages and $72.5 million in state and local tax revenue, a new study claims.
The study — released by a new group advocating changes to the rules, the Coalition for Jobs and Consumer Choice — says that regulations that “limit the mobility of resources, such as beer, wine and spirits, result in negative economic consequences, at a time when Kansas can least afford it.” Current regulations don’t let Kansas grocery and convenience stores sell full-strength beer and other alcoholic...

Love the store layout, and the staff is really friendly. They have excellent tables to play on, and classes for those new to the hobby. The (obviously) have a good selection, and can order items in if need be. They have a wish list feature around Christmas Time as well, which is very helpful for people buying gifts for those into the hobby (since if you're not into it, you usually have no idea what anything is). The only complain I can make is the prices: Everything is fairly expensive, however, those are standard prices for the company itself, not just this shop. Only way to get cheaper prices is to buy them online from a third-party company.

Out of the 118 total seasons of professional sports in the City of Fountains, Kansas City has brought home only three championships — its last one in 1985. Kansas City has a 3-2 championship round record and a 5-6 semifinal round record, Forbes says.
“Admit it; just reading the words ‘Kansas City’ induces glazed eyes and the sudden need for a nap,” Forbes...

The Friday jury award, which followed a four-day trial, includes $200,000 in punitive damages against Hawthorn Bank.
Bob Bjerg, a Colantuono Bjerg Guinn LLC lawyer representing Bailey, said he thought Hawthorn Bank stalled on satisfying the terms of its loan promise to Bailey because of visits from bank examiners who were looking into the bank’s financial...
