
Kansas added 21,500 jobs and Missouri added 5,200 during the year that ended in March, according to preliminary data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
However, neither state made short-term gains from February to March. The Kansas unemployment rate inched up while the Missouri rate didn’t change.
Kansas’ 6.2 percent unemployment rate — two percentage points lower than the U.S. rate — was up from 6.1 percent in February.
Missouri’s unemployment rate stayed at 7.4 percent in March.
