• Perceptive Software adds new division after parent makes $148M buy

  Perceptive Software has gained a new division after its parent company scooped up a Virginia company for $148 million in cash. The transaction brings Shawnee-based Perceptive to 1,140 total employees. It also helps Perceptive pick up roughly 110 new customers, including The Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS), Shell and The Mayo Clinic. Perceptive owner Lexmark International Inc. (NYSE: LXK), based in Lexington, Ky., closed on the acquisition of Brainware Inc. on Monday, the companies announced. Lexmark bought Perceptive in 2010 for $280 million... • Walt Disney Co. plans an appearance in Kansas City

  The Walt Disney Co. will hold its annual shareholders’ meeting on March 13 in Kansas City. The last time Disney (NYSE: DIS) held its meeting in Kansas City was in 1998. “Disney is delighted to be going back to Kansas City, where Walt discovered his great love for animation and produced Alice’s Wonderland, the short cartoon that marked the founding of The Walt Disney Co.,” Disney spokeswoman Kathryn Kranhold said in a written statement. The company declined to provide details about the meeting, such as in which venue it will be held and how many people will be involved, but it was happy to detail its historical ties to Kansas City: Walt Disney moved to Kansas City with his family in 1911 when he was 9 years old...
