 Recent growth at Perceptive Software LLC meant layoffs for roughly 40 employees at the technology firm this week.
A Perceptive spokeswoman confirmed Friday that the company had laid off less than 3 percent of its employees.
Perceptive, which no longer provides staffing figures, last year reported having 1,200 total employees; 700 are local.

 Chemistry between Perceptive Software LLC and its parent company is starting to pay off, said Lexmark International Inc. CFO John Gamble.
On Tuesday, Lexmark reported that Shawnee-based Perceptive notched 47 percent revenue growth to $44 million during the first quarter.
The growth comes nearly three years after Lexmark (NYSE: LXK), a company in Lexington, Ky., that at the time was mainly known as a printer manufacturer, purchased Perceptive, an electronic document management provider.

The Shawnee technology firm showed revenue gains of 47 percent in the first quarter, its parent company reported.
Lexmark International Inc. (NYSE: LXK), which is based in Lexington, Ky., said Perceptive reaped $44 million in revenue in the first quarter, compared with $30 million in revenue during the same period last year.

 Perceptive Software LLC’s parent company has acquired another operation for the Shawnee firm.
Lexmark International Inc. (NYSE: LXK) announced Tuesday that it bought San Francisco-based Twistage, which has a software platform that manages video, audio and imaging content.
The purchase is the most recent in a string benefiting Perceptive by owner Lexmark, which is based in Lexington, Ky.
A Perceptive spokeswoman said Twistage would operate under Perceptive’s umbrella.

Perceptive Software LLC’s parent company is looking to the Shawnee technology firm to “propel growth” and improve efficiency at Lexmark International Inc., the umbrella organization said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission Tuesday.

 Perceptive Software is hiring, and the software company is holding a job fair in Shawnee to round up candidates.
Leslie Shea, manager of human relations, said the company — which sold to Lexmark International Inc. (NYSE: LXK) for $280 million in June 2010 — is hiring across all departments.
“We’re just ramping up our growth,” she said.
