Sprint Nextel Corp.'s barely day-old lawsuit against Dish Network Corp. takes the company to task for allegedly botching its dreams of acquiring wireless asset-rich Clearwire Corp.
But the complaint also puts a lot of the blame on the purchase target itself, painting an unflattering picture of Clearwire's (Nasdaq: CLWR) board and shareholders.
They're apparently easy to dupe, if you believe Sprint's (NYSE: S) accusations.
Sprint's petition mentions Dish's ability to fool (fool, fooled or fooling)…

Dish Network Corp. said Tuesday that it saw through Sprint Nextel Corp.'s new lawsuit as a way to exploit its position as a majority shareholder of Clearwire Corp.
On Monday, Overland Park-based Sprint (NYSE: S) asked a judge to block Dish's attempts to buy a 25 percent stake in Clearwire for $4.40 a share.
Sprint is challenging the legality of Dish's offer, saying that it would give the Colorado-based satellite TV service certain veto and other governance rights that violate Sprint's rights as…

You can't accuse Sprint Nextel Corp. of not keeping detailed records.
The Overland Park-based wireless carrier (NYSE: S) released a slide presentation to investors this week, outlining all of the acquisition meetings and haggling that have transpired between Sprint and Dish (Nasdaq: DISH) in the past few months.
Sprint's account of the negotiations indicates that Dish hasn't made it easy for Sprint to take action on a merger offer — the reasoning CEO Dan Hesse gave when revealing that Sprint…

Sprint Nextel Corp. cutting off merger talks with Dish Network Corp. is a good thing for Kansas City — according to tweets we're seeing in response to Tuesday's news.
Sprint CEO Dan Hesse said the Overland Park-based wireless carrier (NYSE: S) has "terminated" negotiations with Dish (NYSE: DISH), which is floating a $25.5 billion offer for Sprint.
Hesse said it's unlikely the chats would result in a deal that’s better than SoftBank's recently upped bid of $21.6 billion.
While a lower dollar…

They’ll decide whether to let the Overland Park wireless carrier (NYSE: S) absorb it and its precious wireless infrastructure, possibly ending months of negotiating and speculation surrounding the deal that is key to Sprint’s future growth.
But leading up to the vote, disgruntled shareholders still are fighting a Sprint union, and Clearwire (Nasdaq: CLWR) is juggling a higher…

SoftBank Corp.’s higher bid for Sprint Nextel Corp. appears to have made shareholder litigation a moot point.
On Tuesday, a Johnson County judge said he would hold off on making a ruling in a temporary injunction sought by disgruntled Sprint shareholders attempting to delay a planned Wednesday vote on the SoftBank transaction.
Sprint shareholders wanted more time for Overland Park-based Sprint (NYSE: S) to consider a competing $25.5 billion offer from Dish Network Corp. (NYSE: DISH).
But Sprint,…

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Is that the message AT&T Inc. is sending Sprint Nextel Corp. with its new walkie-talkie-like mobile service for business customers?
As Overland Park-based Sprint (NYSE: S) phases out its Nextel network this summer, AT&T (NYSE: T) is moving in, providing push-to-talk service to its corporate iPhone clients.
This Associated Press report points out that the walkie-talkie-like service is a "hallmark" of Sprint's 2G iDEN, or Nextel network.

Dish Network Corp. may not have the best reputation in Kansas City, coming off as the thorn in Sprint Nextel Corp.'s side as it tries to clinch a highly-watched merger with SoftBank Corp.
But Dish may be trying to change that.
We've learned that Dish (NYSE: DISH) is scouting the area for a public relations representative to help boost its image in Overland Park-based Sprint's (NYSE: S) backyard.
We know of at least one unnamed local who Dish contacted for the job.
Dish spokesman Bob Toevs confirmed…

Overland Park-based Sprint (NYSE: S) owes much of that eraser to the wild card in this drama — Dish Network Corp.

Dish Network Corp.'s proposed acquisition of Clearwire Corp. is "not actionable," Sprint Nextel Corp. claimed Monday.
Sprint (NYSE: S) CEO Dan Hesse fired off an accusation-heavy letter Monday morning to Clearwire's (Nasdaq: CLWR) board, detailing how Dish's offer of $4.40 a share allegedly violates Delaware law.
Hesse also said parts of Dish's bid, which came last week on the heels of Sprint's revised bid of $3.40 per share for Clearwire, violated the rights of the Clearwire Equityholders' Agreement,…
