  SureWest Communications — which serves two markets, one of which is Kansas City — is selling in a $340.9 million deal, excluding debt. • SureWest boots up Internet speeds for Kansas City commercial customers

  On the heels of a network upgrade, SureWest Communications is boosting Internet speeds for Kansas City-area commercial customers. SureWest (Nasdaq: SURW), based in Roseville, Calif., announced the free upgrades Friday, saying that recent network improvements now allow for high-speed data transfers. Existing customers on SureWest’s fiber-coaxial network received automatic upgrades Dec. 1, with speeds varying depending on their current service packages, SureWest said.   SureWest Communications plans to almost double the size of its fiber network in Kansas City. The company, which offers cable TV, digital phone and high-speed Internet services, said Thursday that it will run fiber lines past 10,000 new homes in the Olathe area.
